BRIEF.

Everyone is monitored in the business power and big data environment, and our every move constitutes a huge data torrent. Brief hopes that I will explore your self and location data for data visualization design through self-tracking, recording and collection.

Data Visualisation Workflow

In the course taught by Andy, he mentioned Project context, which includes Curiosity, Circumstances, and purpose. With curiosity, I collected data on the life and environment around me, so I extracted the invoice data from my daily consumption life, and determined my purpose, that is, “consumption flow”, as long as we consume Being in the river of money, objects, time and other data, and in my final visualization, I expressed an emotion, that is, fast and dense.

Project context

Regarding my consumption, the data comes from my consumption receipt. Analyze and discover the nuanced things around us, use them to understand ourselves better, plan our own future, and discover the impact of some social phenomena on us.

The small receipts record the days of my life alone, the appearance of my life at home, and the good memories of travelling with friends. I hope that everyone who has a small ticket calendar can also benefit from it!

Curiosity

In one of my drawers, I will put a small ticket according to my usual habits. One day, I was surprised to find that my drawer was filled with small tickets!

Circumstances

The consumer receipt records the days of my life alone, the appearance of my life at home, and the good memories of travelling with friends. I hope I can learn from it and gain something.

Purpose

I want to know where most of my consumption is spent. I want to analyze and discover the nuanced things around us, use them to understand ourselves better, plan our own future, and discover the influence of some social phenomena on us.

Data record

Due to too many receipts, I made a video to show the analysis of the data. I conducted a quantitative analysis from several aspects such as time, business, product classification, payment amount, payment method and so on.

Sketches

Part 1: My inspiration comes from the need to scan the QR code, infrared and scanning sound of the item when checking out. The constant flow of QR codes represents consumption all the time.

Part 2: This part is a quantitative analysis of consumer content. I have algorithmically processed the consumption field.

Part 3: The last part is a graphical reconstruction of the small ticket.

Reference

In a series of large-scale immersive space works produced by Ikeda around the world, he explored how data defines the world we live in, triggering people to recognize the universe and think about the current problems of human beings. Like a computer, people are immersed in it, deep into the field of loss of information, based on physical theory, using light and sound to process data, people experience the links of the three universes to explore perception.
